Vehicular traffic between Puntarenas and the Nicoya Peninsula has been a nightmare since Friday when the División Marítimo Portuaria of the MOPT banned vehicles on the Tambor I and Tambor II ferries between Paquera and Puntarenas.
There is an alternative to the long road trip up to the Tempisque or waiting out the repairs of the bridge, the San Lucas I and San Lucas II ferries between Puntarenas and Playa Naranjo and back are operating.
The San Lucas I & II leave the Puntarenas port at 6:30am, 10am, 2:30pm and 7:30pm. And from Naranjo at 8am, 12:30pm, 5:30pm and 9pm.
The distance between Paquera and Naranjo is 15 kilometres of gravel and dirt road.
